Ruben is from a dutch descent but has been brought up in the East coast of England. His early background consisted of making wooden furniture and surfboards with his father. Having a passion for carpentry flourished his ambitions within architecture and led to him studying his Bachelors degree at Brighton University of arts. Throughout his studies he developed an interest towards sustainable design and restoration due to enjoying the challenge of limitation. The different ways people around the world inhabit their surroundings is something which he continues to also be passionate about.
After graduating Ruben was offered a position as an architectural assistant within a practice under the name of Paul Bradley Ltd. This consisted of him learning much about the local vernacular in Suffolk whilst analysing, restoring and retro-fitting listed buildings.
The year 2022 sees Ruben embark on a new experience, beginning his masters degree in Architecture at the Amsterdam University of Architecture and becoming a new member within Allard’s team.
