allard architecture has designed a new interior for the four-level family home at Ceintuurbaan, located south of central Amsterdam. The foundation of the building together with the adjacent building has been restored. While keeping the historic facade intact, the entire interior plan has been redesigned. In order to increase the living space of the house, a finished basement has been added. The relocation and design of the staircase amplifies the open and light nature of this home.
The house contains three main levels, of which the ground floor and first floor are left open. These floors together with the existing high ceilings, create a more open and sophisticated atmosphere. On the ground floor, the kitchen and study are separated by pivoting glass doors.
The four-level home now allows light to drench the open area and the high specification finish uses the space more effectively.
